Gosh, never ever thought that the movie Stand by Me (which wrecked my heart and which I absolutely love) is based on a Stephen King's novel.

Finally I'm in the mood to read this book after it almost made me sink into a reading slump.

The South-Sea House

Reading this felt like slowing my mind down. Lamb begins by wandering through the old South-Sea House and then gently sketches the odd clerks who once worked there. I had to pause, decode sentences, and sometimes look up his references, though at times I let the prose wash over me. His archaic, conversational style feels comforting—like listening to someone fondly reminiscing about a vanish world

Feels like listening to a genial fellow from 200 years ago leaning across the table, muffin in hand, rambling in a coffeehouse. I'll take it slow, and sip it bit by bit like coffee ☕🌞
