CRINGE

So much potential but also so drastically cringey

Almost there 😅

Underdogs forever 😌

RF Kuang really said, “here’s another fantasy book in a school setting,” and once again, I’m sat 😮‍💨

Mentally playing Dawn by Jean-Yves Thibaudet in the background 😌

The war is upon us, but there are no goodbyes in Hin. Only zài'jiàn (再见)—"see you again." 😭

The war is upon us 😭

Idek how to process the presence of zŏu shī in this plot but here we are, Temurezen 😭

"...my friends: it is the greatest honor of my life to fight by your side. May the Path guide us all."

WHY THE HECK AM I AT WORKKKKKK READING THISSSS 😭😖

Bruh, I have literally no reason to be this angry at a character, but I am.

Bruh this chapter is so eerie despite my brain having a hard time catching up 🤌 Feels like I need to read it again kinda

Now that we're done with redundancies and flashbacks and world-building similes... we will finally focus on the plot. Won't we?

Is my brain just exhausted or... what?

I have a very good feeling that this is going to end badly as Heathen would have ittttt!!!!!!!!!!

And we are so back!

First, I had to reread a favourite book to get my momentum back. Now, I'm picking another book up—one with a decidedly better pacing and action—after reading 9 chapters of world-building in Mistborn. If everything goes well, I'll get back to it after this.

My 9th book of the year though it's not East Asian fantasy and it's 541 pages (my longest this year) and the badass character already set the fire burning (literally) on the 1st chapter? I pledge my commitment.

Gonna have to postpone this one..........

This could have been a script for a full-length period drama and I'd have binged on it. But as a book..... hmmmm

Colour me invested.

"A dead king. A deceived populace. A truth seeker. Sounds like a story that could end very well or very poorly, and I want to spectate."... Someone with eyes like that could have smiled as they bled.

An excerpt.

Hmmmmmmmm

Hmmmmmm

Hmm

The toxicity level is not for people recovering from emotional trauma

A part of me has been broken 😭

And all my detours still led to this book

Big sigh.
