Finished Part 1. I really don’t get what Fleming was on about with this book. Where is 007???

Chapters 4-5

3 chapters in having done one a day since I started. Very slow so far considering it’s not from Bond’s POV but I am nevertheless interested to see how he weaves into the story.

2025 Year in Review:

I am very proud about getting back into reading over the last year (even though it has been 99% Bond).

I read The Godfather (almost as good as the movie) first and then started Bond continuations before working in the Fleming books as well. I managed 9 Flemings, 9 Gardners, all 6 Bensons + short stories, and 3 others by 3 different authors. A very great year and excited to continue.

Back to Fleming after “Trigger Mortis” continuing Goldfinger and the LTK novelization.

Forgot to update yesterday chapters 3-5 and today just chapter 6.

Slow read on this one. Probably because I don’t care for the smaller typeface; makes it seem like chapters are longer.

Only read the first chapter today. Obviously with this being a novelization, it will be interesting to compare it against the film- one which I regard as very good and probably underrated amongst the collection.

The Hildebrand Rarity - 3.5/5

Another good short story; I enjoyed Bond in the field on a non-so much spy mission. Krest's murder and the subsequent mystery of his killer was well written and I enjoyed the somewhat ambiguous conclusion.

Although I don't think the short stores hold much to the novels, they have been fun to read so far.

Risico - 3/5

I love the relationship between Bond and Colombo; this is something that the movie gets right too between Roger Moore and Topol. Only one big action piece but it read well.

For Your Eyes Only - 3.5/5

Finished FYEO- moving onto Risico next. This one was definitely the best of the three I've read in the collection so far. I enjoyed Bond's interactions with Judy and the overall revenge plot. I am not sure if I am in the minority saying that I think the film is actually pretty good, but it is cool to see where it drew from.

Busy day so I only had time to read the next couple of passages in FYEO; nothing too exciting besides briefing Bond and getting him situated.
