I didn’t finish this. I agree with others that this is too much of a list of women and their achievements, but would have made more compelling reading if Ms. Gregory had chosen a few to give more detail on, more context.

Interesting concept, but not for me. The sheer amount of self-loathing of the main character, kept me from wanting to keep reading. Yes, it would be interesting to learn why he feels this way, and to solve the mystery, but not enough to keep reading for me. For something similar in idea, but not in tone, try Ben Aaronovitch ‘s Rivers of London series.

Had to turn back in. 1/3 of the way and still pretty dark.
