love this story

-friendship is very developed and Gene is willing to physically FIGHT for his best friend even when he’s not present. Their relationship feels innocently intimate?

-gene cares far too much about what anyone thinks of him, he needs to be accepted as the winner or most liked in any scenario no matter who he hurts

-brinker=temporary replacement friend

Very enriching, think the bond between the two main characters is very genuine and adventurous, but im not sure where this book is going?

Ch 5 review of.2

Cotton Mather essentially feared the unionization of minorities like native Americans, Africans, women, and did not support any type of egalitarianism. He sought himself as the defender of gods law (puritan) and all minorities as non puritans who needed to be directed (aka enslaved, submissive)

Chapter 5 review:

Cotton Mather wanted to prevent union between peasant whites and enslaved blacks, because that type of rebellion would overthrow the rich white elites. The rich elites felt threatened due to English royalists wanting to govern New England in the 1690s.

Cotton Mather enforced the idea that all pure souls are white. Africans can return to their true “white” selves.
