Like yes I found it eye roll worthy whenever someone expects a woman to smile & be friendly, but still Carrie’s rude.

37 and retired when her record is beat. And then she considers making a comeback. With that intro chapter the story starts at the beginning with Carrie as a child being trained by her father from zero to top tennis star

I went from wondering where the murder that was promised from the cover was to thinking “geez will this person get killed too!?” Haha!

So far so good! It’s pitched as Sun. Sea. Sex. Murder. And we’ve only barely touched the surface of what that entails…

Jezel won his fencing competition and was crowned champion unaware that his win was because of the great mage. They’re supposed to set off to war in a matter of weeks. Yet still we’re in the introductory and investigative but without many clues side of things…

I’m making slow progress with this one. The war is the north is still looming overhead. Jezal is finally fighting his rounds in the fencing match he’s been preparing for since his first ch.

Even though it’s unfair to Jesse, I’m a little uncomfortable if Emma sleeps with him on their trip. Her kissing and telling him she loves him while still saying the same and wanting to get married to Sam is crossing the line. But if they go further while Sam’s still an option… that would turn me off from liking her. As of right now I’m still hoping that Sam gets the girl. :/

Jesse’s been “dead” for over two years by the time Sam comes back into her life. 4 months in they’ve exchanged “I love yous”. And two months after they’re engaged she gets the call that Jesse’s still alive. And here Emma was thinking that she had TWO one true loves… yeesh.

So she knew both Sam & Jesse (her two loves) since high school. Sam loved her. She loved Jesse.

Okay so in Elm’s POV a lot has gone down. But I swear every time it’s back on Elsbeth or Rayvn it’s precarious and near fatal. Ughhhh I had one whole book to become hooked on these two, and that’s why every time something happens to Elm I just want it to get back to them (E + R) regardless of the intensity of his situation… :/

I’m missing Elsbeth and Rayvn’s time together as Elm’s POV is getting equal- if not more- time. I care a lot less for Elm and Ionne as a whole since I had an entire book to get invested in R + E. My guess is that one of the two will be forced to sacrifice themselves, hence the screen time that’ll make them a tragic pairing and tug at my heartstrings soon enough.

As much as I like Elm’s character. I’m missing Elsbeth and Rayvn’s moments.

I like the other POV’s! Though, I’m not really feeling Elm and Ione’s budding… romance?

Post-kidnapping and the sacrifice necessary to resurrect Locke makes me VERY terrified for the title. I hope there’s an alternate option that Grey finds.

Grey and Kier spent a grand total of one night together before fate has them facing intense peril once more, lol. Happy times are few and far between in the middle of war.

Just finished ch 14. And the yearning ughhhhh its next level. It’s obvious that these two love each other more than their own lives, but the fact that they haven’t crossed that final line… wow.

She has him bound and facing off against a crossbow, and then she plants a kiss on him!!! Oooooooh!

Mid king announcing a new successor. Shit’s about to go down!

Now THIS is a true enemies to lovers. These two hateeee each other right now. He just tried to make her kiss his bare foot while she was under enchantment.

Both characters are already OP. Their being enemies is more about their identities than anything personal between the two… idk about this book yet.

Im enjoying the book, but I don’t get why the ML stayed away after meeting again 7 yrs in the future/present…?

I’m really enjoying this book so far, BUT the only thing that I’m not really here for is the potential for romance between the leads… I mean Helene and Elias are PERFECT for each other. Have been through everything together having gone through the academy for the past 14 yrs together. And the author repeatedly shows Elias moved by her beauty/tempted by Helene.

Really interesting so far! Am loving the dual POVs!

This book is very unsettling… I don’t like either of the leads.

Just finished ch 30 and Patroclus dies. It’s officially the beginning of the end. Sad to see how one man’s pride caused the death of thousand. Whether that’s King Agamemnon for not giving back the stolen priestess after causing the war and taking Briseis. Or Achilles for feeling so affronted that he stopped fighting with the Greeks. Which led to Patroclus taking up his armor in his stead. :(

“What has Hector ever done to me?” As someone who knows the ending… oh boy. The line has already been repeated twice.

With the conclusion of ch 16: Achilles, Patroclus, and his troops are sailing for Troy. Interesting that he knows of his prophecy to die, yet still sets sail. As he’d rather die a hero than live to waste away an irrelevant. Of course, his devoted little sidekick Patroclus is there too. Both believing that Achilles will die and he’ll outlive him.

Achilles and Patroclus kissed for the first time around 17% of the way. And are fully together at the 26% mark. From initially meeting when both boys were 10, they’re now 16 and leaving Chiron to potentially go to war…?

The leads don’t even have a in person conversation until the halfway mark and there the ML straight up propositions her, lol!

So far so good. The FMC’s currently messing with and outsmarting the MMC.
