I forgot that this was set in chattanooga and im so excited now. I was already excited because the writing is so good but now im ecstatic. I can see everything in perfect detail!! This is my home, but dead and gray! I like imagining myself as one of the mummied corpses laying in the streets. <3

This book has devolved into a series of long lists meant to evoke an image or curate a vibe and infuriatingly long sentences that go on and on and on. Im at the point of fully hating the reading experience and would DNF it if I wasn’t a completionist. There are very few instances of reading something enjoyable. Most of it is very annoying.

“Oh dear. Her kitty. The fluff. The stupid-sweet little fluffenwaffer. The smoosh. The rug. Fluffy paws and jingle meow. She had once wanted to decorate her with tiny ornaments, because, while sitting, she took on a perfectly conical shape and resembled a Christmas tree. Her ballerina. Her baby. Oh dear, indeed.” It’s getting worse and worse. This writing is so annoying to me 😭😭😭

It’s starting to get boring, kind of a slog rn to be honest and the narrator / writing style is starting to get on my nerves a little

So boring. Nothing out of the ordinary is happening. So far there is no plot, it’s more like a slice of life book. I keep waiting for something to happen. I also kind of dislike the white womanness of it all. This part in particular pissed me off and I can’t pin down why: “We loved REM and danced around the apartment yelling the lyrics to “The One I Love,” stabbing the air with our index fingers.” Boooooo
