Intellectually I can see why people like this book but it is not a flavor I enjoyed reading. Because of the experimental fragmented format I had a hard connecting with the characters. I could make connections about grief and empathy, kindness, and the brutality of our moral and political history. But it felt like homework.

Read this with a great group of artists, meeting weekly and working through our own creative blocks. The most valuable thing for me was definitely the morning pages.
