Super interesting . . .

"The Press" alone is worth purchasing this book. My guess is that it'll be widely anthologized.

I am so glad I bought this book but sorry it took me so long to read it. It's a must read for anyone in higher education or anyone who cares about our nation's future. I'll be working through the notes for a good long time.

Reading this book is like having banana pudding for breakfast every day.

I spy the path out of the lab and into the Overstory. This novel is so interested in language and cognition that either I'll take a year to read it, savoring its dense and clever flavor, or I'll put it aside and reread Frankenstein, then go back to it. I have to read Powers with a pen in my hand because his prose stuns in its intricacy, though that can be claustrophobic sometimes.

Rereading because I am fascinated.

"The wooden bed in the corner of the room seems so far away, and all is but an intermission, of small and tender consequence."

"To teach, and to care about doing it well enough and in a way that's just, equitable, and human for our students and our communities, is a radical stance" (51).

Would love to read this with a book group of teachers.
