Listening to the audiobook. Forgot how depressing this is.

Very disappointed to discover that this book barely features Eilonwy, a highly underutilized character. Just more of Taran being poorly developed and useless time wasting side quests. Ugh.

Not sure how I feel. This book follows the same tropes of the previous one, yet Taran is supposedly discovering love? We'll see.

Where is the prince with the dark beast?? Also why do they so easily escape the enemy....

This book is 80% dialogue I swear. Taran's characterization is all over the place while everyone else is extremely consistent. I wish he didn't hate Eilonwy so much except for when he feels like acting mature. RIP Adaon.

Okay, I'm enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would. It reads like a post apocalyptic video game string of cut scenes. I hope to finish this tomorrow.

So I hate this book already, but I spent money on it and it's easy to read, so I'll finish it out before giving it away. The writing is technically bad. Turton starts many sentences with "it's," which is really lazy. Also ends with propositions when it doesn't even feel convenient. Emory literally has a conversation with her dad in which he says "why do you have to be..." "different?" Puh-lease.

Liking it more.

This is a cute book that would be fun to make into an adventure game. I agree with people who say the writing is clunky.

It's really hard listening to this from the perspective of, why did they not try to contact literally any adult before rushing off :/

I forgot how long this book is, even though it's relatively fast paced. And the ending is so depressing, I'm not looking forward to it.

This is still the greatest HP book. Thanks JK pre hatefulness.

What a tedious story.

JKR's alliteration and use of grimly is really something.

Stephen Fry really does a pretty good job, but whyyyyyy does he insist on pronouncing the ks in words like knuts :/ seriously; and this isn't book 1 either.

Stephen Fry is no Jim Dale, but it's still good enough and it was immediately available from Libby.

Really dragging myself through now. Completely lost track of the different clues.

If it's Faran and Strachan at the end, know I'm bitter.

Reading the accents is tiring. I feel for Sayers because she must want to show off her knowledge of the region that she studied so hard, but I do not care that much :( so this is a little boring to me, but I'll push through for the characters.

Reading as an ebook through Libby - so far this is already richer than Strong Poison. I love the immediate immersion in the location through vivid distinctions and clear conversation dynamics. Excited to keep going.
