I’m still not sold on the urban fantasy. Like you can move shadows but then get a call on your cell phone?
Bryce still seems like the messiest character but I’m entertained.

When that big event happened in part one YEAH THAT PART I had to keep re-reading and just kept going what what what

I’m not sure on urban fantasy, but my closest book friends have influenced me so we’ll see how it goes 🤪

Magnolia always describing the name brands of what everyone is wearing is quite funny when I truly don’t know much about designers so I just imagine that they all look top tier 😂

This is basically the UK version of Gossip Girl. Except they are actually out of High School. Hot mess, not very high quality, but I can’t look away? HA

I don’t know how this series is going to last 5 books, but I’m intrigued by the beginning. Except that our MMC goes by the name BJ??? Yuck.

I just googled without spoilers (because I’m being impatient) and there is no romantic interest in the first book soooooo that sucks. But I’ll press onward.

Also I feel like someone with ADHD would enjoy this style of chapters because her journal entries are the chapters, and some are so short. March 14th is literally 25 seconds on audio and is talking about how there is mice and our female main character is terrified hahahaa

It’s fine so far, but I need some romance asap lolol

Book Club book, we’re reading the first 4 books since they are all so short. Audio book, the narrator’s British accent is great

Also the movie leaving out Poppy going to therapy was a weird choice. But her encounter with Jason on the subway felt random

Running >>> a bar meet up; 1000000% times better in the movie

The movie did a better job with Poppy and Sarah’s final encounter

The movie not having Alex’s multiple brothers and families, as opposed to 1 brother, and the moments as the fun uncle was a poor choice

The sick summer trip is waaaaaay more steamy than the movie hahaha

I do appreciate the more details that the book provides with how Alex becomes Poppy’s safe space.
But also has a tall girl, the tiny petite she’s just so small gal with the huge man hands towering over me man trope is truly not my favorite

Poppy’s home life and parents should have been more highlighted in the Netflix movie. I liked these parts

🫠🙄 this is DRAGGING ON. Literally just get together!!! I don’t know why the tension isn’t tension-ing for this storyline but I’m annoyed

If I was Sarah, I too, would break up with Alex for going on a yearly trip with his girl best friend (which also? Poppy in the books is straight up obsessed with him and it doesn’t even feel like she’s tries that hard to hide it) movie poopy I felt like she truly was just a close friend, but I’m not loving book poppy.

Also no book cover. Poppy and Alex have BROWN hair, and I cannot see them any other way

Doing a re-read because I honestly can’t remember reading it in 2021 (which I think unfortunately speaks volumes to it not being memorable 🫠)
But also, I personally LOVED the movie that came out a month ago. But why am I NOT VIBING WITH THE WRITTEN CHARACTERS???? USUALLY IM THE LOVE THE BOOK MORE THAN THE MOVIE BECAUSE OF THE DETAILS SO IM HAVING A SLIGHT INTERNAL CRISIS okay?? Da hell.
