The author breaks grammar rules in a way that I think is meant to convey significance but just comes across as unprofessional because it’s so frequent. If every paragraph is meant to be impactful then none of them are; there is no buildup.

Really liking it so far, I like the magic system and the characters. Vin and Kelsier have a really interesting dynamic.

Loving the magic system

I have to look up the meaning of some words a few times a chapter, but perhaps that’s to be expected of a book about language.

Harry Dresden is outstandingly misogynistic but I’m willing to see this book through to the end. The magic system and his troubles are interesting.
