I still love this book. I was hesitant to re read because I loved the audiobook so much but reading the physical book is even better because I see more details

Sooo I’m listening to the dramatized version and only part 1 is out… so it’s going to the DNF shelf until the second part is out

Why is this narrator making the MMC sounds like a whiny teenager!?

Classic Katee Robert. The smut is smutting

I picked up this book because I liked the cover. Yes it promises good smut and we can always trust Katee Robert for the smut. But when I opened it at home I found that it was signed and had art work inside! A nice surprise!

Not sure how she’ll do it but Navessa said she could make us love a blond man… at this point in the book I highly doubt she can pull it off. He’s a little too mean.

I’ve gotten a bit stuck here. Normally I can pay attention to the story and do work/chores but with this one I find my mind wandering and getting confused and having to go back multiple chapters. Taking a belittle break and finishing later

I just read THAT scene. Worth it

Listening because it’s on Bookbeat but I’ve been close to DNF-ing. The author literally has the characters say FFS not the full ”for fucks sake” and obvs. Ugh. And the narrator sounds too old for this book. Like having my mother narrate and the characters are meant to be 26…

This is why I don’t like slow burns. We’re 2.5 books in and he is actively and VOCALLY being against actually doing anything with her. Why? Because some destiny bullshit that he said ”fuck it” to SEVERAL chapters ago. He knows she wants him, she knows he wants her. He’s just being an ass at this point. He could tell her and let her make her own decision. Also I hate reading one bed trope and not doing it

I love this author. I’m reading it as a prompt for several reading challenges (a debut novel) and her writing style remains amazing. The Ornithologists Field Guide to Love is both more chaotic and more clear than this one but as it’s her debut you can see where she started and had just gotten better. Her use of language is just hilarious.

I hate this book. I love a good dark romance but he NEVER says anything to her to explain anything of what’s going on. She has no autonomy and no matter how many times she’s says she’s turned on by pain they are using it against her and she hates it. She’s happily taken part in the scenes like 5% of the time. Her self esteem is at 0 and even the MMC isn’t helping that. Just no. Do not recommend

I’m reading this one after ZA 3 since my library hasn’t gotten RB1 back in (I have a hold on it but the person who has it hasn’t returned it yet) but anyway, honestly if I read 4 more books before getting to this one I would totally forget half of the things that we are meant to remember seeing from book 1. So I’m happy reading it in this order.
