Really started this abt 2 days ago but got a good bit of reading done on the plane. Idk why, maybe because of the strong female protagonists, but I’m feeling a slight Zora Neale Hurston influence.

I’m on “Alas, Poor Richard” rn and I might cry🥲. I’ve always had my opinions of Richard wright (specifically his political views) but learning about the intimacy of his and Baldwin’s relationship is very sentimental. I mean, after reading Native Son, I was hooked, Wright is a very gifted writer and I’m excited to read the other parts of this essay, to learn more about him through Baldwin’s eyes

Abdel Karim, while he is morally corrupt and borderline psychotic, is kinda tuff ngl. Malamine needa tighten up! Are you really bout this revolution shit? Are you ready to kill over it? To die for it?

I love Baldwin’s writing. He’s so explicit. Re-reading Princes and Powers I can’t even truly say he was taking a firm stance on the argument that the diaspora has nothing in common, culturally, besides oppression by the white man, he was really just questioning the other speakers’ points.

I was nervous cuz I saw mixed reviews but after it got delivered to me today I couldn’t put it down. As someone who studied design, I wish I would’ve known about this text earlier.
