I am DNF’ing here for now, I might come back to it later, but I am a bit bored with the characters.

Do you ever wish you could read a book for the first time again? I wish this now more than ever in my life now that I’m rereading HtN

The whole ceiling becoming filled with mistletoe from Nolan’s magic was actually pretty romantic, props to the magic for that one!!

‘“If your hope was to kill me,” I say while gripping the side of the rink, “let me remind you that I’m already dead.”’

Nolan may be an arsehole, but I do admit he has some good one-liners.

‘I told her to change because if I had to watch the tiny strap of her camisole drift over her shoulder one more time, I was going to put my fist through a wall.’

Ah yes, a man whose response to intense emotions about a woman’s choice to wear certain clothes is to punch the nearest wall is DEFINITELY someone I’d feel safe with. /s

‘I’ve seen all sorts of transgressions. The very worst of people. I doubt much can surprise me.’

You know what’s not sexy? A man.
You know what’s totally not sexy? A man that complains about his job WAY too much.

Oh my god the start of this chapter is giving me flashbacks to working in supermarket retail at Christmas time… too real 😂

‘“And your voice. What is going on with that?” I arch an eyebrow. “My accent?”
She nods.
“I died Irish.”
Her brows pinch together. “You’re not Irish anymore?”
“No, I’m still Irish.”’

This did make me laugh XD

Very abrupt end to the chapter, like, this ghost is just in her house?? In A Christmas Carol, there was a bit more preamble of Scrooge being a bad person. Harriet doesn’t seem… bad per se, but does seem to have some unhealthy coping mechanisms for family-related issues that are being alluded to.

The Loathly and Bluebeard stories were really good, especially the cyclical nature of Loathly and the re-wilding/turning back into a beast as her true calling was poignant

I really enjoyed the short story Toad Words, so simple and sweet!

Interesting that so far there are three perspectives: Elspeth’s first person, Ravyn’s third person limited and Elm’s third person limited.

If any more perspectives get introduced, I feel like the narrative will suffer for it.

Wow there has been so much sex since the last update, way more sex than I thought there would be 😳😳😳

New insult unlocked, and it made me giggle when I read it.

Damn that scene in the aeroplane was pretty steamy!

The way this book is written has so many references to millennial humour and pop culture, which I’m not mad about!! Definitely devouring this book!!

“I’ve never been much for jewellery, but maybe I’ll keep it when I find Serena and this is over. Or buy one of those mood rings that think Vampyres are always sad because our body temperature is low.”

I think that “The Sisters” chapter has been my favourite so far
