Once Was William by M.R. Carey is a haunting, tender, and thought-provoking read. I was drawn in by the way Carey explores identity and transformation through William's journey. The emotional depth really struck a chord with me, especially how vulnerability is handled with both rawness and subtlety. Some parts felt a bit slow, but the payoff was worth it. I'd definitely recommend it!
