Chapter 1 begins in only the manner that Terry Pratchett starts a novel. I'm hooked, and I'll probably read chapter one again before moving forward.

The concept is intriguing, but the story is focused on the individual characters. I'm more interest in the bigger picture, and the ethical discussion of how governments handle the string lengths. Thus far, the author only gives it a cursory discussion, instead focusing on a handful of individuals personal journey.

I recently joined a book club at Powder Hollow Brewery. This is the first book we are reading.

"In the 19th century, healthy orchards and fruit groves were viewed as crucial to national prosperity...by the mid-19th century, the average US citizen needn't look farther than their or their neighbor's backyard." (pg 5)

I cannot finish this book. The story is neither interesting, nor humorous.
