super philosophical and i have to think really carefully about each page before i move on. challenges challenges challenges

it's like rf kuang is stalking me and pulling thoughts directly out of my head as i live in korea what is wrong with her

read the top goodreads review for this book and it goes like this: "The author left me speechless, a blubbering machine like those waving cat statues you see in Eastern places, with the exception that I kept repeating, "I love it! I love it! I love it!""

very excited for this book. i hope it also leaves me like one of those blubbering waving cat statues you see in eastern places.

i did start this book bc i did think it was going to be an easy read but there are so many new names and characters that i am having trouble memorizing who is who. the idea of where it's going seems p clear rn though. it's giving poppy war

this book is on a good track to becoming my worst rated book thus far. this lies at the very bottom of the cesspool of the god-awful writing i've read. the only thing this book has been good for so far is when i take a break from studying to read and it gets me so annoyed that i go back to studying

much like people in real life, getting to know the characters in this book slowly but surely

idek what page i'm on but here to say that johnny nolan is breaking my heart

i am growing so fond of stories that take place right around the turn of the 20th century i cannot explain why

was not expecting the author to be british but we roll anyways xx

currently reading and savoring... i love this book a lot

if the poppy wars were about military and religious western imperialism in east asia, babel about cultural and academic western imperialism, and katabasis about imposter syndrome particularly in women in academia, then yellowface is about what western critics have to say about kuang herself…….. so far

picking this up bc i liked the movie premise and irene hyped it up. so far it's a lot more comedic than the movie

YIPEEE nom nom nom

alex michaelides try to write a book without mentioning greece and stepping outside the limits of a first person limited pov failed

"for the martyrs, who live" god i am so excited for this book

I GIVE UP! i would fall asleep every time i got more than 5 pages in so i will wait until i am back in the states to obtain a paper copy and finish this goddamn book so i can give it the proper time and focus it is demanding from me.

i'm locked out💀

i feel like an idiot reading this at times idk if it's the translation or me

making my way through the classics one by one because somehow i managed to finish my major without reading a good chunk of them for better or for worse...

warming up stretching bouncing on the balls of my feet here we go

saw someone say she wrote this book at 19.. i have to kill myself😔

i rarely update my progress through a book but. there’s something about this book that makes me want to rush through it and savor each page at the same time but ohhhhhhh my lord jude💔 idk how much prep for heartbreak i can do it’s already so heartbreaking already
