Moving on to this after the Bridge Kingdom as that series made for great in-studio listening. Enjoying this so far also

this is such a poorly written book. Everything is cliche. An angsty moody MMC. The "on the run" phase that I am presently enduring reads like a made for tv movie. Unfortunately I am someone who has to persevere and get to the end of a story. Trying real hard here.

this is my next wind down/ bed time book. Reaaaaaally struggling to push through as it reads as though it was written by a daydreaming teenager. I get that my bar for writing quality is probably pretty high immediately following on from R F Kuang however it's just pissing me off. Basically "I'm hot and have lots of money and clothes. Oh and I'm really super strong. And I have these really cool powers too". Painful.

This just feels so poorly written and cheap after reading The Priory of the Orange Tree. Definitely just cliche fluff with humourously sex-mad characters lacking any other traits or depth 🤷

Needed something on the lighter side and the other book I attempted to start I threw on the floor. Pleasantly surprised by this so far! It is following 🌈the formula🌈 but that isn't necessarily a bad thing! Well written so far
