I am logging purely just to note that I started this book, but there’s a 95% chance I don’t finish this book

I liked the first 250-300 pages, recently, since the end of the manhattan project, it’s gotten a bit dull

Running list of quotes/things I like:

-Sancho’s unending story
-“As finished as my mother”
- “You smell…and not of amber”
- “His jests were reaping a bitter harvest”
- “a leap over the hedge is better than good men’s prayers”
- “He who sings in grief, procures relief”
- The bulls are on their way
- You’ll see it when the eggs are fried

Slow start, but I think I was also very confused at the start of A Room With a View, so I’ll push on.

I know the 1970s movie Chinatown, came afterwards but I’m getting similar vibes at the start. I don’t think I’ve ever really read a like “noir” style book, so it’s been interesting so far!

But unlike Chinatown I am totally envisioning Steve McQueen as the lead character.

Fun so far. It’s like my classical composer book. I like how it gives a frame of the times as well as the individual trips themselves.

Good, but got REAL slow with them all hanging out at the inn

Better than the movie so far!
