The beginning of the book is a bit tedious and the instalust between Jory and both of the MMCs a bit annoying, but it does make sense why she would be like this. As soon as they escape shit hits the fans and I love everything about the dynamic between the three of them!!!

why is him being a “traitor” such a big deal?? Hell, I don’t care what he did 400+ years ago to deserve the punishment of being trapped in a sword. And how did he betray Halla by not telling her that he technically was a traitor to some ancient king? Like Halla knows how Sarkis acts and him having no problem with murdering basically everyone was never really a problem for her but this is???

Sky-Swimmers are genuinely terrifying

oh, the idea of Zale and a priest of the The Hanged Mother… maybe someone who isn’t as nefarious as most of the people who worship The Mother.

I instantly like Zale. Can we get more about them?
Besides that I’m a bit bored troughout the journey to the temple and I don’t like how often Halla and Sarkis are thinking of the physical attractiveness of the other.
But the humour has been the saving grace till now, I just like her Kingfishers jokes.

I’m so angry at Sarene right now. For all her supposed cleverness, she only sees her own hurt while condemning Raodens actions. Raoden lives in Elantris and has knowledge while she only let her seon spy inside sometimes and then she just automatically assumes that she knows all there is to Elantris/Elantrians????
on the other hand, what happened to Hrathen and why did it take him?

the romantic notions between Sarene and Raoden are a bit much… his only wish to have in Elantris are her letters and her main motivation to leave Teod is because men there did not want an intellectual wife?? I just don’t care for the characters romantic relationships, because there are more impressive plots at play. Saying that: Hrathren plays a dangerous game and I want to know more about Dakhor…

Hrathen seems to be a complex character. His religious beliefs and behavior (right now) are awful, but he is thoughtful and has a morality and therefore some redeeming qualities. And even his behavior isn’t as foul as a war that Wyrn plans. I’m excited to see where he will end up.
The story as such is rather slow and I want to see more of the magic of Elantris.

so far I like Elantris and I really like that we see some events from all our POV characters, but I’m not sure if I like the characters yet. I like Sarene sometimes, when she is in a verbal battle with other people but some of her thoughts make her seem like a “not like other girls”- girl. Raodan seems to be a perfect hero archetype, but I enjoy his chapters and seeing more of Elantris.

I strongly dislike Hrathen and his ideology.

I like the romantic tension between Slate and Caliban and how we are getting to see more of their past - but now Slates past is the main plot point, while I would like to have more knowledge about the Clocktaurs, the War and Wonder Engines :(

“Shame flitted briefly over Brenner’s face, but found itself in unfamiliar surroundings and didn’t settle.” - is a genius phrase 😂

I’m just questioning if that demon is really dead, because it does speak quiet frequently.

are we sure that Phoebe found a tight-knit friend group if all she ever does is lie or insult them???

these last few pages were not for the weak. I cringed a bit too hard.

It’s infuriating to see Vin and Roz together… especially how Vin is unable to hold one conversation!
but at the same time I see myself in Vin - I too shut everything out if I am feeling unwell/unsafe in a relationship.

Elode, girl, open your eyes. I think it’s clear that Bren is Jude’s father. I mean his caginess about his childhood photos and he started working out and got laser eye surgery… he didn’t find her randomly in Australia…

the dynamic between Bren and Jude feels wrong, but that could just be a that - a feeling.
I would be truly interested in seeing how these two interact without Elodies gaze on them…

“She’s trying so hard. She’s giving him everything. She will never understand him, not even if she took a box cutter to his chest and opened him up to see what is so very wrong with her child.” - I need to confess that it’s sickening to read this book out of her POV and how she victimizes herself… maybe I’m too quick to judge but damn - you give him everything BUT the things he actually needs.
