Been listening on audio, read by Brant. Huge fan so far and the jokes are funnier because Brant is the one talking. Good stuff Mr Hansen

I’m certainly enjoying the book, but it’s one of those books that you read and then at the end of it you aren’t even sure what it was about. I understand the premise and some of the dialogue and allegories are fascinating and the perspective it has on heaven and hell has really been making me think

They say of some temporal suffering “no future bliss can make up for it”, not knowing that Heaven, once attained, will work backwards and turn even that agony into glory. And of some sinful pleasure they say “let me have but this and I will take the consequences”, little dreaming how damnation will spread back and back into their past and contaminate the pleasure of the sin

Not gonna lie I’m a little sad at Tolkien for being jealous for Lewis and letting that break their fellowship. But I also feel bad for him because he’s so shy and needed Lewis at the same time. I know the story is romanticised but it gives me pictures of heavenly fellowship sometimes and makes me so excited experience that, and makes me grateful for the fellowship I have here and now

The end is near…. The second half of this book is much better and a bit of a tear jerker but still don’t love the way the story is told. I can taste mythmakers

Don’t get me wrong this book is pretty. Not the most extreme page turner but a compelling story. However, Pete just gave me his copy of mythmakers and I want to read it so bad, so the last third of this book is going to kill me. Gotta power through

Don’t feel bad Samwise, I’d cry too if someone cut down all the big trees in my village too

“Frodo and Sam sat under the whispering trees amid the fragrance of fair ithilien, and they talked deep into the night with Merry and Pippin and Gandalf, and after a while Legolas and Gimli joined them. And they told of all the tales that had happened since their fellowship was broken” what I wouldn’t give to smoke a pipe and listen in to this conversation
