Wow this guy sucks

I know I haven’t really been writing anything on these updates so far but trust me I’m really enjoying the book

Ya know I’m starting to think this guy isn’t all there…

I read this book back in early high school because a girl I liked told me to, and I remember thinking it was good but I don’t actually remember anything about it. Excited to read it again now that I’m an actual human person.

You’re never gonna believe this…

Wow! What a climactic part of the story! I sure hope the next six chapters aren’t a hyper-detailed breakdown of the history of the Parisian sewer system!

Got busy and stopped reading for a few weeks but picking it back up again. Finished Book IV and about to start the fifth and final. In the home stretch now

It must be so fun to sneak up to people in a park and leave them threatening notes

Two page monologue went hard as hell. Ended up as a nice full circle moment.

Needed something more portable than Les Mis to take to the beach and Andrew finally convinced me to try reading DFW

Finished with Volume III: Marius

The last 80 or so pages of this volume have been the most I’ve read in one sitting so far. It finally started to feel like all the individual plot threads were coming together. I’ve been reading faster and faster the further into the book I get.

This dude just saw one (1) attractive woman in public and proceeded to slowly go insane for 16 pages

For as much of a slog as the Waterloo section was to get through at times, I’m retroactively appreciating it more and more as it keeps coming back up

Finished with Volume II: Cosette. There were more tangents in this volume than the last which slowed down my reading a bit, but the main plot has me hooked. Very excited to see where things go

God I wish Jean Valjean was real. He would’ve loved Central Rock Gym

It’s so rare that something genuinely good happens to someone in this book, so I can’t wait to see how spectacularly it goes wrong.

Made it through the notoriously slowest part of the book. Completely pausing the narrative and abandoning all of the pre established characters to give an excruciatingly detailed play by play of the Battle of Waterloo was not the choice I would’ve made, but in the end it turned out to just be a very roundabout long winded way of dunking on one of the characters the author despises, so honestly I respect the energy.
