The writing style is giving 8th grader creative writing and I’ve never met a more soulless main character than Yin Wei (I don’t even know if that’s her name), even thought this is written in first person.

I can literally see RF Kuang’s Yale PhD as I read this 😭 I’m nowhere near smart enough to appreciate her intelligence as fully as I should.

I fear I have a new favourite author and I won’t stop until I’ve read nearly all her books
