Children of Dune was probably the weirdest book I’d ever read, but this has already outdone it tenfold. It’s such a wild, creative concept, and I don’t know how Frank Herbert came up with it. I’m really enjoying seeing how this world has evolved. I suspect this will be my favourite in the series.

Started this a while ago in physical form and got halfway through but got too busy. Now trying the audiobook, which is really weird so far. Some chapters are a dramatised adaptation with a full cast and music, while other chapters are a normal audiobook. I vastly prefer the latter. Also sometimes there’s this pointless background droning which sounds really bad when the speed is changed.

Started this the other day on the plane to Edinburgh. My first non-Cosmere Sanderson.

Total Cosmere madness. Book 1 (of 4) was completely enthralling even though I’d already read the flashback chapters in Sixth of the Dusk (it’s slimmed down, e.g. removing the stuff about the Ones Above which is covered in the non-flashback chapters). For some reason the sample chapters (Prologue and Ch 22) were the first things I read in the Cosmere, 1-2 years before I started properly. Don’t start here.

How was this written back during COVID lockdowns? Genuinely prophetic

I’m already spotting references to Wind and Truth. Makes me wonder how much went over my head in other books

I really enjoyed Of Tuor and his Coming to Gondolin, I see why so many say it’s one of their favourites among Tolkien’s work. So far the Narn i Hîn Húrin is just sections from the Children of Húrin book, possibly with some very minor differences.

This book is insane. The first two in the series gradually built up to a Cixinlanche (avaLiunche?) but this one is just a continuous Cixinlanche. In that sense it kind of reminds me of the original Mistborn trilogy, except filled with way more existential dread
