Reading this after watching the hunger games mockingjay part 2 feels like switching from something peak to an absolute shitshow.
Hell, I don't even mind shitshows so much but the fact that this series is SO HYPED as being a very good dystopian book, is what made me hate this alot. If people had said "it's just a vibes read/fun story" or whatever, maybe I wouldn't have hated it so much

One thing I really love about Ann Liang's books is that she makes us FEEL the romance and connection between the characters. The way she writes a slow burn is absolutely amazing and should be the standard for YA romances. Like she doesn't just give us some spicy/steamy stuff here and there and calls it "romance" but she actually balances the steamy moments with the fluff and emotional connection and I LOVE that!
