Thing I want to note about the book. The author says that Humboldt “discovered the interconnectedness of nature”. No, Humboldt rediscovered this because indigenous peoples always knew this. The arrogance of Europeans and the need for commodify nature is why Western Europe chose to forget this. Capitalism can’t exploit nature if it’s apart of us.
