Doing the Spotify audiobook for this one. I’m pretty uninformed on the less recent history of this conflict, so it’s been very eye-opening to hear about all of the fucked up stuff that was happening long before the most recent atrocities being committed. Highly recommend to anyone with Spotify Premium.

Five College Consortium for the win 🤯 Not very far in but the topic is interesting

Beginning is alright, it’s an interesting premise but not written in a particularly eye-catching way. I hope it starts picking up beyond the beginning

Essential reading for everyone wishing to build a better future. Changing the conversation on climate change is sooo so so needed rn and this book is perfect for that.

The last 100ish pages has me absolutely fixed on that tulip. A very captivating and well-written book, absolutely earns my five stars.

I’ve started reading this book and then not finished it like 5 times since I received it in 2018, maybe this time I’ll actually finish it. The section on meter is kind of awkward because it’s difficult to demonstrate in writing but he mostly gets the point across. The beginning is kind of a drag for those already familiar with music who want to hear about the neuroscience but overall it’s okay.

Using Spotify audiobook for this one so I’m not actually sure how far in I am but it’s been alright so far, not disliking it but not super invested. I do like the characters though.

The characters are delightfully complex and real. I love how the relationships are developing. The flow is interesting; going from Peter’s kind of convoluted stream-of-consciousness inner monologue to Ivan’s much more straightforward (but still very compelling) perspective provides great contrast and a reading experience that I enjoy thoroughly.

Written in a very unique/interesting way. Often confusing, but very evocative and gets you acquainted with and invested in the characters quickly. Looking forward to seeing where this goes!

Definitely a challenging read. Getting through the first couple chapters is a little rough what with the endless footnotes (two whole pages of notes for the first chapter— sheesh!) but after that it’s a pretty good book. The early plot progression is remarkably similar to The Count of Monte Cristo, albeit more violent. Interesting narration and very intellectual.

I don’t know if I’ll end up finishing this one. The author kind of irritates me.

It’s an interesting read! Probability is really difficult to understand and conceptualize, especially to the untrained eye, but it’s given me plants to chew on so far. It’s also fun reading this and simultaneously taking an intro to stats course, as some of the topics in the book pop up in my course and I get to go “Hey I know how Baynes is!”
