First time I have read two books simultaneously. This is the first of three, the author wrote them beginning at age 94! This is about his growing up years in a poor Polish Jewish family in England as WW1 begins. The second one I’m also reading is The Dream about the family’s eventual ability to go to America and begin a new life in Chicago.

It took 100 pages to rope me in. Almost halfway through now and very glad I didn’t leave the outfit and go home!! ! I’m enjoying the ride and can’t imagine how the trail will end. Which pretty much defines the joy of reading!

If you’ve read this epic, do you prefer Call or Gus?

Incredible! This book was free and water damaged at a local bookstore but what a treasure for a student of history! I’ve just read about “Washington Town” in Andrew Jackson’s tenure. Vastly different from the DC of today. And no wonder trump adores Jackson! The ethnic cleansing he led of the Native Indians and the Trail of Tears is vivid on these pages. It seems like Frazier was an eyewitness.

Ohhh this author just pulled a David Mitchell and I love it! Rice and Apryl from Bearskin have joined the action!
