I find a lot of the descriptors that King uses to be off putting and his focus on female bodies and describing them sexually to be unpleasant, but the way he constructs his stories is highly engaging. He leans a bit too heavily into "I'm writing from the perspective of a gross person so I must sound gross" too much.
