That first chapter was a doozy. The writing style/ world building had a feeling of taking itself very seriously. Felt very “this is high fantasy and you will know it is serious”. (GEORGE R. R. Martin feels the same to me). But I feel like that leveled out a little in Chapter 2.
We started with a lot of action and an interesting premise, so I am eager to see where things go next!

Slow.
Fun reveal of character ties to companion book.
I’m putting this on hold.

Not great. Lots of trivia- not a lot of plot.

Picked up into what I’ve been hoping for.

Good little Sci Fi twist.
I don’t want this to connect to ACOTAR- it doesn’t sit right with me.

I think maybe I just don’t like this series. Part of me is contemplating going to the Wikipedia pages just so I know how it ends so I can quit, but I’m trying to give it a chance because the end of the last book did make me cry. I was facing the loss of my mom so that may have had something to do with it, but still I’m holding out hope.

I’m getting more interested in the plot- but I don’t find this world as compelling as ACOTAR.
The modernity is throwing me off.

Well that was unexpected- I’m starting to get into it with the early twist.

Having a hard time getting into it- but that might be because I’m coming straight off ACOTAR.
Sticking with it to see where we go.
