You Can See Everything paired with slowly rereading this has me feeling some type of way

lol this book is wild

a lot of people complain about the “good ride/bad ride” portions of this book but I think his description of the worst case scenario hitchhiking journey, ending in him being murdered by a trucker who specifically hates alternative film directors, is one of the better exercises in anxiety I’ve ever seen

Love Steinbeck, but also love that Waters calls out how much he actually embellished for Travels with Charley in the prologue to this book lol

okay but kind of obsessed with the idea that women are capable of feeling closer to nature than men because men attempt to conquer both

At this point, I feel like I’m in the middle of a particularly difficult, multi-day hike. We are over halfway there and it would be embarrassing to quit and turn back now. Maybe there will be a beautiful view! Or maybe I go insane in the woods!

the chapter on sex was triggering 😎😎😎

Comfort re-read to balance out the French woman

“Man would have nothing to lose, quite the contrary, if he stopped disguising woman as a symbol” yeahhhhhhhhhhh

thousand yard staring sections of this book

Am I actually smart enough for this book? Only time will tell!!

Have never related to Patti Smith more than when she got a stuffed crow from a museum because they were throwing it away

You know what? Good for her

I hate when books have a character that just explains everything out loud and this book has 3 of those soooooooo
