As brutal as it is beautiful. I knew I was meant for this novel when it opened describing my part of California and the specific color of the poppy.

“And mixed with these were splashes of California poppies. These too are of a burning color-not orange, not gold, but if pure gold were liquid and could raise a cream, that golden cream might be like the color of the poppies.”

Equally brutal as it is beautiful! I think I knew I would love this book as when it opened my describing my part of California and detailed the specific color of the poppy way more than necessary.
