Gah!! I have a book hangover from a book I adored but am not ready to leave behind. I love/hate when that happens!!

Book Nerd Problem #136: When you decide to re-listen to an audiobook and receive the new edition...and discover there's a new narrator...and that new narrator is TERRIBLE!! (So much so you cannot continue listening)

When you have to actually remove a book you didn't like from your "read" list just so the Goodreads Bot will quit recommend read-alikes.

Ugh! Hopefully that nixed the issue from now on.

Is there a way to stop Goodreads from recommending read-alikes for books I didn't like or didn't even like enough to finish? Because that would be awesome.

The 2023 Goodreads Choice Awards... Actually really disappointed they have eliminated the Graphic Novel category. Boooooo! to that!

I am really digging this book so far!

Every time I hear someone say "Li-berry", I want to say something cheeky, like: What kind of berry is that?

or maybe: Oooh... aren't those things poisonous?

or even: Hmm, tart on their own like rhubarb, but tasty as a jelly (actually it's quite good on toast)

Halfway through the 4th disc (I'm listening to it on my daily commute) and am really enjoying it so far...even though I have absolutely NO idea how the two storylines will connect. Which is a good thing. I love when a story surprises me.

p.s. This is my second book by Darcie Little Badger, and she's becoming one of my favorites. Her style is so unique and she's a master storyteller.

If the characters from Harry Potter were to enter the world of The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials), would their Deamon take the form of their Patronous? And vice-versa?

Just something I've wondered about...

When you're absolutely hooked on the Cutest Series Ever and the Official Release Date of the finale has yet to be announced.

So... Socially-awkward character (who prefers cats to children) gets strong-armed into taking a year-long sub-teaching position they are really not (mentally) equipped to do. The children, in turn, torture them mercilessly. And the author, in turn, makes them out to be the villain.

I'm feeling a GREAT deal of sympathy for the wrong character here, but I don't care. I call it like I see it.

YAY! So many books on my To Read list are being published this month and next. Exciting!!

Ugh! I really don't like the new look for this site! It's hard to navigate and some of the reviews I wrote for older books are missing. The new look is a fail, Goodreads. Don't fix what's not broken!

That feeling of complete and total desolation and not knowing what to do with yourself that you get after finishing an especially awesome and amazing book. Knowing that no other book will satisfy because it's not THAT book.

Goodreads doesn't offer a Re-Reading shelf...so I added one for myself. Why? Because I often re-read and re-re-read old favorites whenever I need a guaranteed pick-up.

It's funny how, sometimes, you'll reread a book years (or decades) apart and get something completely different out of it each time. This happened to me.

Dandelions are scary for the simple fact that they are LIONS who, in large numbers, will gang up on you and consume your flesh and inner organs while you are still alive, resulting in a horrible and painful death. However irrational, I commend that kiddo for making the connection with her minimal grasp on language. No wonder she was freaked out! I mean, lions are lions, right?

Dang!! Skye's mom is pretty much pure evil!! Hate her already!!

NOT entering the Goodreads Challenge this year has been the Best Decision Ever. Because there's absolutely no pressure! I can just enjoy books without worrying about living up to impossibly high standards. Think I'll opt out every year.

Nothing kills my interest in a new book more than learning it's the first in a planned series. I want my story and resolution wrapped up neatly between two covers & have no patience for cliffhangers.

So I'm NOT going to do the Reading Challenge this year. I started it last year...and got way ahead of the game. Still, I quit halfway through. Because I was feeling unnecessary pressure. Even though that competition was only against myself. This year I'm going to read what I want when I want. I'm going to RE-read. I'm going to NOT read (if I'm not feeling the urge). And I'm going to be happier for it. I already AM.

So... if Hennessy can dream up exact and intricate copies of herself, why can't she dream herself up an invite to the Fairy Market? Seems like a simpler solution than trying to forge one the old fashioned way.
