Interesting; hard to get into mostly due to the pidgin English. Not sure I like it yet; similar to Shogun in many way; the developing attraction is a bit appealing, hope it doesn’t devolve…

The 4th of the series. Every chapter has a new, yet gentle twist.

When I came across this book I had not heard of the author. I was intrigued by the title, the setting and the premise. I'm enjoying it and it's easy to return to; just picking it up occasionally and reading one or two chapters.

I've been slogging through this book for well over a year. I find I'm curious to know what happens & that's why I continue.

Two viewpoints, two time periods. I'm enjoying Harry Hole and the 'present day,' having some trouble with the WW2 wartime and finding sympathy for that protagonist; or, even finding out who that protagonist is.

I find it hard to describe this book; it is almost stream-of-consciousness and flips back and forth. The narrator is extremely self-involved, but it takes very little time to discover that he has good reason to be. My favorite quote:

Really want to savor this; very engaging protagonist - a 'fat' Dutch detective who sees a dead man at a funeral and pursues him, interrupting the service
