I have a feeling this book is modelled after Russian literature....kinda depressing

This first half was so, so cheesy. I like romance books once in a while, but some parts in here were just pure cringe.

Anyway, the book has now taken a sharp turn that I did not see coming, so I'm intrigued.

Though if I hear another "just keep swimming" quote, I'm going to scream.

A bit dry, but interesting nonetheless

Quite enjoying this vivid array of characters, but I get the feeling that this novel is kind of hamming in the message of "sacrifices of immigrant parents vs. spoilt first-gen kids"....hope to be proven wrong

I hate this book cover that Goodreads has, it looks like a flaming tapioca...

But anyway, I think this is my first book I've read writen by a Maori author...learning loads

I'm taking such a long time to read this but I'm learning loads and I'm seriously blown away by how messed up the food industrial complex is!!

This book would make for a really good 6-part podcast series

Super dry...and depressing

I'm really taking my time in enjoying this. It's a nice cosy read, very BBC Midsomer Murders (though I've never watched an episode but I assume it's like a small English village big murder mystery type)

Really enjoying this as an audiobook - fun celebrities reading funny, whimsical, sad stories.

This book was written in 2016, but it feels like...so much of this is already known?
