This is really intriguing so far, combining the best parts of true crime and thriller - reminds me a lot of the real life Golden State killer so far.

Thought this would be an easy one to finish my 30 book goal for the year but it's kinda boring so far. Hoping it picks up a bit and has more plot than a 40-year-old man thinking through his memories of 30 years ago.

I'm only 2% in but this is a really good opening so far. Our narrator is wallowing in regret, but also feels relieved? Let's see what happens next!

So far, I'm loving the whimsical tone of this. The writing is refreshing and really evocative. I feel like I'm a part of a fairy tale.

I'm finally reading this one. So far, it does not feel as life-changing as everyone is making it out to be, but there hasn't been any sexy time yet, so I guess I just have to wait. I know I'm like three chapters in but the writing is just meh.

Not into this so far. It jumps right into a group of five girls, having a seance and some creepy things happening. but then keeps cutting to random flashbacks about ordinary teenage life that aren't interesting as well as the main character telling us all about her life. These things all could have been shown instead of told as the story developed but it's coming off like an info dump.

To illustrate how pointless/plotless this book is, I accidentally jumped ahead two parts - about 20% of the book - on my kindle. It took me a solid 20 minutes of reading to even notice.

My prediction so far: Tallulah falls for Scarlet and they have a lesbo affair and kill/kidnap Zach and put him in the tunnel. Tallulah is hiding there too but then Scarlet gets bored and just locks her down there and leaves.

More likely, it's Liam. He's just enough on the peripheral that he seems innocent and naive, but that's how all these psychopaths work in these thrillers.

We've FINALLY made it through that very long, very boring day. Now maybe something will happen other than talking to random characters in different campsites?

This is just action upon action upon action! Characters are constantly on the run and doing things. Though I must say, the bed bath & beyond mentions are kind of... poignant? Bit of a poor choice of location, based on current circumstances.

"It's kind of complicated"

Catfishing a lifetime movie actress with a fake audition is actually a pretty fun story thread lol.

Our first "it's complicated" of the book. Impressive.

So far we're following two main characters, Emily and Rowan. I think one is from the first book, but I don't quite remember the plot of that one. Oops!

One nitpick is how when every new character is introduced, they're described in a very robotic way. Like here is their exact height, eye color, and what they are wearing.

Reading this one early thanks to Netgalley! If you're curious about it, I'll give my thoughts in a non-spoilery way as I read.

We finally left the witch's cave!!!

This book is really starting to bore me. It's more so a list of events that have happened rather than anything resembling a plot.

This book is rolling along, but it's kind of dull. We still haven't left the witch's cave, and all she keeps doing is having more sex and more kids 😅 not really sure where it's all heading. The "fable" tone can only hold for so long without a plot.

So far, this is reading just like a fairy tale. We have the main witch (whose name I don't know how to spell because audiobook) who's just living life in her cave, getting visits from various gods, giants, etc.

This book has no idea what it wants to be. After learning every minute detail of these people's past, we finally get the big reveal of what happened around 50%. And it's not even that bad - traumatic, maybe, but not life altering. And the last hour I just listened to was all about a domestic dispute, totally unrelated to plot. And now she's headed back to the scene of the crime with her baby in tow?! Why???

I'm a third of the way through this book... and nothing has happened. Literally, the entirety of the plot so far has just been the back-of-the-book blurb. I'm just waiting for something to happen other than flashbacks and breastfeeding.

Protagonist decides to stay in town to comfort niece after the murder. She then proceeds to completely ignore her to go on two different dates with random men and become some kind of super sleuth despite having no investigation experience? Like what are you doing? Let the police handle it instead of inserting yourself into an investigation that doesn't concern you.
