I feel like I'm missing a lot of the context that could/would give meaning to the words and phrases chosen for the texts. At times the perceived aboutlessness renders the text as empty as it proclaims itself to be.

The roundabout way in which the book is narrated I think is brilliant. It's brilliant because to understand what the narrator is taking about the reader must think like the narrator. It forces the reader to think dirty without being dirty itself. It's very clever.

Just reading the introduction but already loving it. The sincere expression of gratitude and longing and the glimpse into the process that brought the book into being really set a tone for what's to follow.

I find her idolizations boring. I also skipped, after skimming it, a whole chapter of movie reviews.

Parts of it are way over my head, but I'm still mostly enjoying the read. It's blatantly obvious that I'm not as well read as Zadie Smith is. Probably not as well read as the book's expected reader. Already helped me clarify a few thoughts of my own and gave me 2 book recommendations.
