Quite interesting introduction of characters.

I would definitely recommend this one to other leaders.

The way this book is organized does not flow well. Upfront is someone’s story of how they put money away. Then this happened and they put more away, however, what does not go with it is the Biblical principals which are all clumped together in the back of the book. ‘Oh he did that for this reason’ makes more sense than how it is arranged.

It walks a fine line of prosperity Gospel. But the premise is the same: make guidelines, stick to them, put money away first, tithe, use the rest for life. The Rich get rich through investing and having things that earn them money. Get yourself some CDs. Add to them as much as you can. Make twice monthly mortgage/credit card/ loan payments. You’ll pay it off faster with less interest.

I’ve read The Total Money Makeover. Again, I got more out of that book than this one thus far. ‘Save for a rainy day’ ‘Make wise purchases.’ So far I’m not impressed.

The first 42 pages were about how he put money aside and at times was blessed by different events. I almost put it down because it was basically about putting money in a savings account. Having read some Financial Freedom books - so far it’s much the same principle .. put your money away so when the famine comes you’ll be just fine.

Considering the time in which it was written, it’s a helpful book. However, certain things must be viewed through the lens in which the author is writing. For example: pre-marital prep. to refer the wife to a gynecologist for a pre-marital exam.

I love the series.

What a delightful series.

Thus far it’s an easy read with good points on how effective it is to have short term and long term goals for a congregation involving both “inreach” and “outreach.”

“For an adequate notion of guidance, however, we must add to this that God’s plan for us is to lead us in paths of righteousness, which means that the decisions we make should always have in view the twin goals of maximum service to others and maximum pleasing of God”

After the authors definition of righteousness I put it down. How do you know you have ‘maximumly’ pleased God? Total works righteousness.

The character development is great.
