I’m liking the plot so far. It almost feels like a combination of Bourbon & Secrets mixed with Into the Fading Twilight.

You know, I’m not sure how I feel about this one.

So far I’m enjoying how raw and real Ebie’s real life experiences have been. Though I do find the imaginations of Sarah to be extreme but it’s what has helped Ebie during times of grief.

Just over the halfway mark now and things are getting real tense.

Here it comes

Ridley’s case is revealed and Colt truly sees her.

We have met both of our main characters; Ridley the FMC and Colt the MMC. The case has been established and Ridley has begun her investigation.

Just finished Into the Fading Twilight and thought I’d try something else by Cowles. Yes, it’s another suspense romance with murder and stuff. I’m a simply woman.

Daddy issues? That’s old news, this book is bad mother, after bad mother, after bad mother.

Still not loving Brae but the relationship between Nova and Kol is so sweet. It’s also been nice seeing more of Cora and Wilder’s interactions, they will probably have book four.

I didn’t realise this was part of the Haven River Ranch series. I heard the name drop and instantly stopped chewing my pasta then the mention of “the Haven brothers” confirmed it.

The Brae from book one is not the Brae in book two. She is so overbearing and I understand she wants the best but good grief, let the woman breathe.

I actually have no idea what’s going on anymore. I’m purely reading for closure.

We finally learn about what happened five years ago… about time.

With both the Harbinger Killer and the Overman tainting the woods, Halen is once again working with Kallum to decipher the crime scene.

This book is giving Hannibal vibes. With Halen channeling both Clarice and Will vibes and of course Kallum is giving Hannibal himself.

We are introduced to Mr. Mercedes. I’m enjoying the fact that this book is written in third person it allows us to follow both Hodges and Mr Mercedes:

Aurienne reveals her findings thus far.

Osric discovers that he can’t steal, use dirty money or manipulate to have someone’s heart.

After spending the first book becoming less enemies and more frenemies, Osric and Aurienne fall out.
