On page 62-161 of Hopes and Ideals (the memoir written by my brother’s grandfather about his experience on the German side of WWII and his escape). I put this down for a while because of the state of the current climate and general stress but I’ve had it for a year and am not quite half way yet so I thought it’s time to start reading it again.

Trying my hardest not to cry at work. It has been a long time since I’ve cried for a character. I’ve been torn to shreds. I was honestly not expecting to enjoy this as much as I am even if this has broken me just a little. (Book 2 is on the way I am very excited)

I hope this is more hunger games than fourth wing but I’m thinking it will be more ACOTAR. I guess we will see~

This book is so far decently predictable but very entertaining. The chapters feel unusually short but they carry the story nicely. From this point however I have no idea where this story will go other than the hints in the prologue.

Mentions a bounty for all 5 blades, mentions 4 Aeri, Sora, Mikail, Euyn but not Royo?

I’m about halfway through this and I just don’t care enough to continue. I don’t think Alyson Noel is for me. This is officially a DNF and will be going on the pile of books I don’t care to keep.

I did not realise the “technically not incest” jokes from bookclub actually held a decent amount of weight to them. I honestly just thought it was because of the general “I love hugs from my handsome step bro” vibes but it is in fact more than that. Hoping to finish this book this week and although it is entertaining I’m not sure I’ll continue the series.
