Okay this is really very good! I’m enjoying connecting pieces of the story and figuring out what brought each character here and motivated them to become what they are. I will say that I wasn’t expecting a complicated world with so many unique and dark elements to keep track of but once I locked in to understanding it, the story was even more interesting! I will definitely be reading the next book after this!

Okay so wow. I see what the hype is about for sure! I was worried that it wouldn’t live up to it but so far I’m hooked!

I wasn’t feeling it as much today so I’m taking a break and coming back to it later!

Okay this is super cute so far! I definitely picked this one up because of how beautiful the cover is but it’s actually been a really interesting read so far. It’s definitely something I should be reading closer to summer time for the fun summer fling vibe but after a long week something so low stakes is exactly what I need!

Those hundred pages were a whirlwind! I’m glad this book explores their careers and personal growth. I kept feeling like the problems keeping them apart weren’t getting resolved and not being able to see an end where they are together but that has started to change. I’m excited to see how it ends and to continue the series!

There was a portion of this that read really slowly for me but we’re back in it now! 1) This is a great example of when characters block their own progress. 2) I love when Black characters talk with slang or phrases that I grew up with and recognize 3) I’m getting excited for the other books bc the other sisters are super interesting too! 4) It’s not a giddy romance but I’m still really liking it!

I’m loving it so far. They haven’t even met in person and I already love them together. I have definitely discovered that the pen pal trope is likely going to become a favorite of mine. I am interested to see where it goes from here given they already seem interested in each other even if only in imagination and I’m a bit annoyed with Strickland if I’m honest 🫩

Wow. Now I’m loving it and their dynamic is so cute! The explanation was a bit simple but it helped make up for so much lost time and explained an aspect that was making me dislike Jesse. Lastly, I would like for the men in these novels to have less of an insta-love attraction because it doesn’t give them time to actually know and love the person but I don’t mind it much here. Definitely very good so far!

I am enjoying it but much of that is due to Ali Hazelwood’s fun and easy to read writing style. I don’t like the dynamic between the love interests yet and I think there are so many elements that are too close to her other books. I keep thinking she is Elsie or Olive and Jesse is giving Jack. The attraction of the two also feels slightly unprompted. However, it’s still early and I am enjoying the read so far!

Book Club Read:

It’s impactful to watch Nora’s language and decisions change as she expresses more of an interest in living. I also really like the addition of Hugo. He adds more dynamics to the story. It’s also very interesting to see many different people that Nora knows in different lives and their impacts on her when in other lives she doesn’t even know them. Overall, I’m still really enjoying it!

Okay I’m loving it so far but it is surprising to me how much the books leans into prophecy and knowing how things end. I wondered how it would approach that we already know many of the stories that impact this one. However, even though I know how this ends, I’m still wondering how it ends and bracing for the sad ending.

So far, this is a really cute story. I’m enjoying theorizing how it may end as I know it’s supposed to be a tear jerker. I’m happy every time they age older as it makes hearing about their passion more comfortable to read (I don’t want to read about 13 yos 😭). I’m sort of annoyed with how naive Achilles is, but otherwise I love both characters, their dedication to each other, and relationship.

Still shocked at how amazing the writing and story telling is here. I feel like I’m descending into the madness and uncertainty with Ellory. I’m trusting no one and skeptical of everything. There are real and thrilling stakes here. For the first time maybe ever I don’t care about the romance but just about the mystery unfolding and trying to solve it before I’m told the answer. Really really good so far!

That last page… OMFG I AM HOOKED! The main character, while navigating financial motivations and experiences of discrimination, is plagued by visions and strange occurrences. The only person with answers seems to be her academic nemesis. There are little symbols in the top corner of what seems like random pages that are piquing my curiosity! I don’t know where this is going which is refreshing and intriguing!

Pre-read:
I’m super excited about this one. I love the setting and topic along with the inclusion of more magical elements, historical results of oppression, mental health, and a POC lead. I really think that this has the chance to be my second 5 star read of the year

I’m still liking it so far but it does kind of seem like Ever can’t catch a break. Overbearing parents, choices and passions taken from her, and now some pretty terrible luck. So far my only qualm with this is that it seems there is going to be a lot of cheating on people and competing for boys. I’d so prefer friendship first rather than a rivalry for a so far mediocre boy!

I’m liking it so far. It seems like such a cool concept and it’s super cool it’s based on a real place and real experiences.

Book Club Read:
I am really liking it so far! This is such a unique and interesting concept that I’ve found a really easy read in terms of language and in keeping my attention. It is kind of dark towards the start and I’m rooting for Nora, the main character, to find happiness, even if she is struggling to root for herself.

I’m not liking this as much as I was in the beginning. The action doesn’t seem as big to me and reads as slow rather than fast paced. There are many things I like and I am still interested in getting the answers to but I feel like I keep saying “oh like in…” in reference to other superhero stories. It might just be a genre that is so saturated it’s hard to have fully new ideas.

Honestly I’m liking it so far much better than books one and two. She is now a heroine who is sure of herself and confident, not letting others determine her path. It’s more enjoyable for me to read about someone grow into their strength than stay as what I can only describe as a trad wife. The relationship with Rhys is far better and I love their dynamic so far!

Pre read: I haven’t liked the other books in the series as much as some other people but I’m really trying to put that aside to form my own opinions. I want to know how the story ends so I’m continuing.

Current Marker: I’m actually liking it so far. It’s like a visual representation of growth in a year and she’s a far more interesting and formidable protagonist to follow.

Not done for the day but I just had to sat Dr. L is my least favorite character from any book I have read this year and I read a book about a serial killer. I hate him and hope the book ends with him getting what he deserves!

Okay firstly, Dr. L can shut tf up. She is a financially struggling diabetic and you want her to teach less and get paid less? It will likely be revealed the only reason Elsie’s applications were denied is bc he was the one recommending her! Also, this Jack being able to read her mind thing is seriously tea. “Yes I do like burgers Elsie”? Ali, girl…

Hmmm. Still making up my mind. It certainly has a different vibe than the Love Hypothesis while also keeping similar tones. It does kind of feel like things are happening awful quickly but not in a pacing way, in a timeline way. Still just collecting my thoughts and seeing what I think but so far I don’t like it as much as the Love Hypothesis. I’m trying to separate the two in my mind and not compare.

Liking it so far but the writing is a bit annoying in terms of Elsie’s constant internal monologue. With these books is you can always tell exactly what’s next and the answer to every question it sets up but still enjoy reading it and smile when it is revealed like you don’t already know. Also, dang girl do you fake date literally everyone? At least look at who these people are… Starting to get good tho 🤭

Corny and predictable so far but that’s exactly what I signed up for. Liking it so far! A few too many dad jokes from Dr. Doofus so far tho…

Absolutely horrifying. Every other sentence is so profoundly disturbing. Even if the last 100 pages end up being good, I wouldn’t be able to like a book that has been so difficult for me to make myself read up until now. Not sure why this is a favorite for some. I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say this is my least favorite book I have ever read.

Okay all my old questions are answered and now so many new ones. What on earth was Ace’s power that he was able to take out 47 villains in one night? I’m starting to hate the Renegades. They definitely seem like the villains at this point but I love that the book explores critiques and strengths of both sides in such creative ways!

I’m incredibly impressed so far. This book does an excellent job of setting up both sides of the war. Neither side is blameless or without reason. I haven’t even figured out who to root for yet. It is also such a new spin to the superhero genre with such unique abilities that aren’t common. The way they are used is also so creative. I’m enjoying it a lot so far and I have many questions to be answered!

Yeah so still not a fan. This is my least favorite book I’ve read in a while. It spoils everything before it happens like “little did he know that he would be his demise.” I’m actually not enjoying anything about it 🫢. The material is super dark as well and the characters are unlikeable. That would be fine if it was at all interesting to read. Sorry to lovers of this book but it isn’t for me!
