I'm afraid I started to lose interest in this book so gave it up.

I am finding this book hard-going - the first Cronin I have not enjoyed so I am abandoning it and will discard it!

I couldn't read any further than page 30. I thought it was a really silly book and not worth wasting time on so I would mark it as a book I could not finish.

I have more or less exhausted my Agatha Christie collection so I decided to read one of my own books again. Fiona Compton is the name I use for my fiction work. So far I'm enjoying it and am quite surprised that I don't remember everything about it. It's probably a good idea to read one's own work several years after it was first published.

I doubt if I'll ever read this book. The introduction was long and tedious. Perhaps the book will improve if I ever manage to get into it. Possibly I haven't enough time left on this earth to tackle it again!

I am finding this very easy reading after my attempt at "The Old Wife's Tale"!

I don't think I'm going to get very far with this book. Perhaps I should try another of Arnold Bennett's books? If they start off with the long introduction I waded through here I don't think I'll like him!

I don't think I have read this one before. I am enjoying it.

I am reading many glowing reports of this book but I'm not enjoying it as much as I thought I would.

I'm afraid the print is too small for me. I'll go back to it when I can find a better edition.
