if you're going into this book for the ROMANCE, it's going to be a struggle — because i'm on page 150, and the two characters still barely interacted. almost not at all.

good thing i'm reading it for hazel and her goal to become a surgeon. a part of the book that is going well

still, the pacing is so slow. basically nothing happened yet.

i like the book, but who the hell proofread it? the amount of repetitions is actually crazy. that can't be right.

the repetitions are so bad, but other than that — the story itself is okay so far, although still nothing happened yet.

you can tell the author is a screenwriter, because of the amount of repetition of names, lol.

anyway, i like the author, so i hope the book will be good! so far it seems like it will.

it's very rare for me to like a relationship in a book (i'm aroace), but i love imogen and theodore!

obsessed with the dynamics between the FMC and MMC

love the vibe. i'm a bit surprised over how fast the action is going, but considering it's supposed to be an adventure it makes sense why.

i don't think i'm enjoying the author's writing, no offense. can't describe it. everything is so short, random, i feel no attachment to the FMC, nor do i feel anything towards the shadow bringer. i feel as if they don't have any chemistry and it's very flat. and it's so obvious who the real villains are. i'm utterly bored.

i've read the reviews of this book, but so far none of them are correct. i don't know how people are reading this and seeing those issues. they're all wrong.

so far i am eating this up.

the magic system and the concept of the silver bars are SO good in this book.

the racism is crazy, but i suppose it's unfortunately the harsh, historical reality.

i'm really interested about what those three people were, what they were taking. and i reaaally like remy!

i didn't even realize how much i missed dark academia!

and may i just say, that i disliked professor lovell since the first pages.

THE SCRIPT THINGY TWIST. SO CREATIVE

sometimes i don't know what the hell is happening

rather poor writing, world-building mentioning greek mythology and european medieval real-life phenomenon of the dancing plague, as well as bad proofreading (who did that) — the author makes up with a CREATIVE story anyway!

i was worried this was going to be another knock-off of "caraval", but i am pleasantly surprised.

i also never care much about love interests, but jude's introduction was SO fun.

so much stuff happened, and i am utterly consumed. men in this book suck. poor sonya. the tension of whether rasko will be discovered or not, omg.. and his love story between him and sonya. and he's such a complicated character. he's not an utter monster, yet he commited such an awful crime!! can't make up my mind about him, but i think that was the point.

i couldn't care less that marmeladov died, but his death was actually sad. because of his alcoholism, he left behind his sick wife and his starving children. what a man.

that double murder... i'm speechless

so far i'm all the way to chapter four (listening to the audiobook while i was travelling). depression, depression, more depression. poor sonya, her story is heartbreaking. and marmeladov is terrible.

as a slavic person, i can confirm those are the vibes of eastern europe.

i'm really enjoying it. its quite fun, even if simple. very funny — i laughed few times. the plot is interesting. and where is kittyyy?

that friend group is pretty stereotypical, but i don't mind that at all. i feel bad for reid and how he's being seen, but he's also interesting. the classes seem fun.

i'm actually going into this blind, so i don't know what to expect. but i'm liking this!

okayy, i'm kind of enjoying this way more after my tolkien hangover passed!

eh, nothing bad, but also nothing amazing and extremely compelling either. it's okay so far.

okayy, i like it. the writing is very simple and information is kind of dumped in your face, but nothing terrible. and i am a sucker for urban fantasy.
