Are we gonna have an actual plot driven by the intelligence and skills of our characters? Nope! Just coincidences

Sooo boring and forgettable

The plot seems a bit convoluted at this point with lack of relational set ups and pay offs, and a lot of the plot relies on coincidences. That combined with the natural relationships makes the structure feel very awkward, but still fun

I feel like the longer that I read it the more shallow certain characters and plot points feel. The relationship development feels unnatural, and some characters just dont feel that developed

There's been vague progression plot wise, still a lot of introducing characters. Similarities in voice though I still like the prose and setting enough to enjoy it

Lots of characters being introduced, not sure what to think. I like the concept of some of them but not sure when the main focal point will resume

A part of reading this feels like im reading a one on one retelling of some pretentious grandpa's wet dream.

I so far like the structure and its concept, but I feel the MC's characterization is lacking

God, the scene between Maya and Ana is so emotionally, with the artfully depicted depictions of the inner lives of everyone in this small town.

So far so amazing, there is already plenty of lines about emotional impact and great use of words that enhance the emotional scenes that are already there. Every character feels true to themselves and are incredibly distinct and it harmonizes well. A breath of fresh air

Oh okay so Elodie just comes back and experiences a whole arc while a totally unrelated character gets most of the screen time with a poor transition. I see.

Im still not the biggest fan how Elodie just up and disappeared when her entire set up was suggesting an entirely different story. If you were gonna introduce all sorts of new characters introduce them sooner bsbshsj. The pay off is also.. sbdh

The POV is currently favoring Leonard even though hes only been introduced halfway in, which throws in a bit of an unnecessary curve ball. A lot of his emotional arc just doesnt have the proper build up unlike Elodie. I miss my girl. Why tf did you just show up randomly with no rhyme and reason 💔

I feel like im starting to understand more of the actual story itself, and I have my theories. The whole POV switch into the ghost thing at the start was still pretty jarring though. I think this is one of the books where I cant really form my thoughts on it til the end tho

The constant jumping of POV's is a bit befuddling, it was introduced as a switch to ghostie pov and normal pov b now its just ghosts and we still dont know shit abt the mystery. Like the idea of dropping hints via ghost povs is cool but the delivery is so confusing ;w;

Interesting set up if not a bit cliche, actually having a character that I feel like I can actually know is refreshing though.

Some flashbacks (?) Feel poorly integrated for what their purpose is, and further add to confuse the narrative rather than add mystery too it, but im a big fan of the characterization and setting, and the environmental descriptions are beautiful

If they were really going to start adding random flashbacks at the end of the book I wish it was better incorporated throughout, like ive already been talking about. Again, there's lots of things that structurally feel clunky.. but when its good, its good

There is aspects i really like, and i enjoy Thera and Zomis relationship, i just really wish the zycucu were more built up, but im liking the insight we get into their lives using Timu.

Luan has a bit of an interesting arc going on right now which did have a little of the necessary build up but im disappointed in the rest of the build up, especially with certain characters and choices.
