First half was somewhat incongruous apropos Dostovesky’s other works I’ve consumed. The plot picked up with his typical fervent flare around the 70-80th page, and the timely introduction of the incorrigible “Grandmother.” I’ve got one chapter left, I should have finished this book a month ago, I got lazy!

Very interesting. I have enjoyed the development of Charlie Gordon and I’m excited to see what he does about his innate sensual emotions that are aggressively surfacing.

What a procession. Such fervor that nekhlydov is keen on displaying. He does seem like a really good man just somewhat travailed by the system he has been raised in. We’ll see what happens now in Siberia as part three begins with chapter 1 “Maslova makes new friends”

The aristocracy is wild. It’s almost akin to 1984 in the way the officials turn a blind eye, as nehklydov puts it “10 seemingly dangerous people are incarcerated to make sure the one real danger is put away.” And to quote Boney M “ohhh those Russians!”

Heatin up like lil baby says. Gets a little monotonous when discussing the aristocratic affairs or property dissension. Tolstoy seems wont to the occasional prattle. Other than that the Maslova aspect is fascinating. Quasi Fyodor fs. Loving the book.

Very engrossing. Page turner. Anxious to see what happens between Nekhlyudov and Katusha!
