So far so good, it reads exactly like a Tom Clancy novel but it's not surprising as Larry Bond helped Clancy co-write Red Storm Rising.

Without much to do today I sat down in my bed and opened the book expecting to read a chapter or two before I watched a film.

But I cannot praise Meacham enough for his writing, I managed to read over 100 pages in one sitting as his writing style flows perfectly and it makes you want to read more and more.

In that one sitting I managed to read the 8 years of H.W Bush's Vice Presidency.

Still taking my time, reading chapter by chapter when I have spare time. But Meacham's chapter on Robin's leukemia and her passing was an emotional and tough one to read through.

It's terrible that back in those days people would avoid a 3 year old child with cancer as they believed it could be contagious, but even in her illness Robin managed to be bright up until her eventual passing.

The book is really good and Meacham makes it enjoyable to read. However, I only really read the book out in the garden during sunshine, and so I haven't made much progress on it so far.
