idk if i want to continue. i really enjoyed the first 1/3 of the book until it was revealed as a metafictive device. The parts after that kinda lost my attention — or maybe because the metafictional story was just so good that it overshadowed the rest that came after. probably setting aside for a bit.

slowly savoring it...calvino's essays are a wonder to read, especially his thoughts on translation and the way we read/perceive a text. reading that essay for a third time to let the ideas percolate in my head

starting 2026 with a philosophical essay collection from italo calvino. Re-read the titular essay twice already, trying to absorb what is being said.
