As the chapter continues, Amy emphasizes the change in perspective that needs to happen. The "othering" that disabled people receive shouldn't exist. The reason is that it's not "me vs.them" that we should focus. It should be looking at people like Christ did and respond accordingly.

The topic of chapter 3 is people doubting the legitimacy of disability. Amy does a good job of explaining many different areas in which she experiences this. It reveals a lack of compassion and how a lot of the work is put on the disabled person to fight.

Amy continues chapter 2 with a finished thought of how history has defined disability. How ableism sneaks its way in like a virus. How she carries that sickness as a burden. How people can look at ableism in order to dismantle it. She looks at Matthew 25:40 and how Jesus tells us to respond to "the least of these." She finished with a call to action for the church and those who choose ableism over people.

As chapter 2 continues, Amy begins the discussion of ableism and how it shows up in American churches. She explains that it is an idea woven into society and it's hard to see unless you're educated on it. In American churches, it is seen with a false view of God. That God wasn't intentional with disability to bring Him glory. Amy then starts discussing ADA and how the church has a history of rejecting its protection.

Started Chapter 2 which covers disability discrimination. Amy reveals that the stonewalling of her teachers leads her to equate success with worth. Unfortunately, I completely relate to this "spiritual lie" (as Amy puts it). I think especially if you don't know you're disabled, you blame yourself for the lack of assistance. Like somehow people's lack of care is your fault.

So far, I like the illustrations used for comparison. I like the mix of narrative speech and facts given. Amy is really good at expressing her perspective on being "othered" because of her disability. I especially like the call to action in the way of bringing people back to what Jesus teaches.
