I'm reading this novel partly because I have enjoyed everything else I've read by this author, and partly because my wife just finished it and raved about its beauty.

I'm not reading this one cover to cover. I just keep it handy and read a chapter when I feel like it. The chapters are fairly self-contained; no overall story arc to keep track of, and with a cast of trillions, there's no keeping track of them either!
